के. एस. मणिकंठन आईआईएम तिरुचिरापल्ली में रणनीति एवं उद्यमिता के प्रोफेसर हैं। उन्होंने भारतीय प्रबंधन संस्थान, बैंगलोर से प्रबंधन में डॉक्टरेट की उपाधि प्राप्त की है। उनका शोध संगठनों के विकास और प्रशासन (गवर्नेंस) पर केंद्रित है। उनका शोध हार्वर्ड बिज़नेस रिव्यू, स्ट्रैटेजिक मैनेजमेंट जर्नल, जर्नल ऑफ़ मैनेजमेंट स्टडीज़, एशिया पैसिफिक जर्नल ऑफ़ मैनेजमेंट तथा कम्युनिकेशंस ऑफ़ द एसोसिएशन फ़ॉर इन्फ़ॉर्मेशन सिस्टम्स जैसी प्रमुख वैश्विक प्रबंधन पत्रिकाओं में प्रकाशित हुआ है और द इकोनॉमिस्ट जैसी अंतर्राष्ट्रीय व्यावसायिक पत्रिकाओं में उद्धृत किया गया है। उन्होंने अकादमी ऑफ़ मैनेजमेंट और स्ट्रैटेजिक मैनेजमेंट सोसाइटी सहित प्रमुख अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलनों में भी अपना शोध प्रस्तुत किया है।

मणिकंदन को एआईएस लर्निंग एक्शन अवार्ड (2020), ईएफएमडी बेस्ट केस अवार्ड (2017), डायरेक्टर मेरिट अवार्ड (आईआईएम बैंगलोर), एसएपी लैब्स स्कॉलरशिप (आईआईएम बैंगलोर), यूनिवर्सिटी गोल्ड मेडल (अन्ना यूनिवर्सिटी) तथा फाउंडेशन फ़ॉर एक्सीलेंस स्कॉलरशिप (एफएफई, यूएसए) से सम्मानित किया गया है।

आईआईएम तिरुचिरापल्ली में वे डिज़ाइन थिंकिंग, रणनीति, उद्यमी प्रबंधक, विकास के लिए रणनीतियाँ तथा रणनीतिक नेतृत्व जैसे पाठ्यक्रम पढ़ाते हैं।

उन्होंने वीडार्ट कॉर्पोरेशन, प्रथम सॉफ़्टवेयर और यूनाइटेड हेल्थ ग्रुप जैसे संगठनों के अधिकारियों के लिए विकास रणनीति सत्र आयोजित किए हैं। इसके अतिरिक्त, उन्होंने हिंदुस्तान पेट्रोलियम कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड के प्रबंधकों के लिए एक डिज़ाइन थिंकिंग कार्यशाला का भी संचालन किया है।

इसके अलावा, मणिकंदन ने चेन्नई पेट्रोलियम कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड, इंडिया पोस्ट, इंडियन ऑयल कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड, हिंदुस्तान पेट्रोलियम कॉर्पोरेशन लिमिटेड तथा पावरग्रिड कॉर्पोरेशन ऑफ इंडिया जैसे संगठनों के अधिकारियों को विभिन्न रणनीति-संबंधी विषयों पर सत्र प्रदान किए हैं।

अकादमिक क्षेत्र में आने से पहले, मणिकंदन ने एयरोस्पेस कंपनी हिंदुस्तान एयरोनॉटिक्स लिमिटेड तथा ऑटोमोटिव कंपनी टीवीएस मोटर्स लिमिटेड में कार्य किया। उन्होंने कॉलेज ऑफ़ इंजीनियरिंग, गिंडी से मैकेनिकल इंजीनियरिंग की डिग्री प्राप्त की है।
