डॉ. गॉडविन टेनिसन के पास 20 से अधिक वर्षों का अकादमिक और उद्योग अनुभव है और वे आईआईएम तिरुचिरापल्ली के साथ इसकी स्थापना के समय से ही संचालन प्रबंधन और निर्णय विज्ञान क्षेत्र के संस्थापक संकाय सदस्य के रूप में जुड़े हुए हैं। वे एक योग्य मैकेनिकल इंजीनियर और औद्योगिक इंजीनियर हैं। उन्होंने अपने करियर की शुरुआत एनआईटी कालीकट में अंशकालिक शिक्षण सहायक के रूप में तथा बाद में आईआईटी मद्रास में अंशकालिक शोध सहायक के रूप में की, जब वे क्रमशः अपनी स्नातकोत्तर और डॉक्टरेट डिग्रियाँ प्राप्त कर रहे थे। डॉ. गॉडविन ने भारतीय प्रौद्योगिकी संस्थान, मद्रास से डॉक्टरेट की उपाधि प्राप्त की और उसके पश्चात् आईआईएम तिरुचिरापल्ली में शामिल होने से पहले लगभग पाँच वर्षों तक कॉर्पोरेट क्षेत्र में कांतार मिलवर्ड ब्राउन एनालिटिक्स (पूर्व में मार्केटिंग एंड प्लानिंग सिस्टम्स) तथा ब्लू यॉन्डर (पूर्व में जेडीए सॉफ़्टवेयर) में बिज़नेस एनालिटिक्स और ऑपरेशंस रिसर्च कंसल्टेंट के रूप में कार्य किया।

डॉ. गॉडविन आईआईएम तिरुचिरापल्ली में संचालन प्रबंधन और निर्णय विज्ञान क्षेत्र में प्रोफेसर हैं और उन्होंने संस्थान द्वारा संचालित सभी स्नातकोत्तर और डॉक्टरेट कार्यक्रमों में अध्यापन किया है। उनकी शिक्षण रुचियों में आपूर्ति श्रृंखला प्रबंधन, लॉजिस्टिक्स प्रबंधन, उत्पादकता प्रबंधन, प्रक्रिया पुनर्रचना, मूल्य निर्धारण निर्णय, राजस्व प्रबंधन, सिमुलेशन मॉडलिंग, नेटवर्क प्रवाह मॉडलिंग तथा मात्रात्मक विधियाँ शामिल हैं। वे मिश्रित शैक्षणिक दृष्टिकोण अपनाते हैं, जिनमें कक्षा व्याख्यान, केस चर्चाएँ, सिमुलेशन खेल, व्यावहारिक डेटा मॉडलिंग और कक्षा प्रयोग शामिल हैं। वे कार्यकारी शिक्षा में भी सक्रिय रूप से संलग्न हैं, जहाँ उनकी एंड्रागॉजी में भूमिका-निर्वाह और गतिविधि-आधारित शिक्षण शामिल है, तथा वे कई कार्यक्रमों के कार्यक्रम निदेशक भी रह चुके हैं।

डॉ. गॉडविन अनुसंधान में सक्रिय रूप से संलग्न हैं और उनके नाम से प्रतिष्ठित समकक्ष-समीक्षित अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पत्रिकाओं, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलनों तथा संपादित पुस्तकों में 50 से अधिक प्रस्तुतियाँ, प्रकाशन और लेख प्रकाशित हो चुके हैं। उन्हें अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलनों में प्रस्तुत शोध के लिए तीन बार “सर्वश्रेष्ठ शोधपत्र” पुरस्कार प्राप्त हुआ है। उन्होंने कई अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलनों में सत्र अध्यक्ष के रूप में कार्य किया है तथा 11वें इंडियन सबकॉन्टिनेंट डिसीजन साइंसेज़ इंस्टीट्यूट अंतर्राष्ट्रीय सम्मेलन के सम्मेलन अध्यक्ष रहे हैं, जो भारत का अब तक का सबसे बड़ा अंतर्राष्ट्रीय प्रबंधन सम्मेलन था, जिसमें 18 देशों से 500 से अधिक प्रस्तुतियाँ और लेखक शामिल हुए थे।

डॉ. गॉडविन ने आईआईएम तिरुचिरापल्ली की स्थापना के बाद से कई महत्वपूर्ण प्रशासनिक जिम्मेदारियाँ निभाई हैं। वे प्लेसमेंट एवं बाह्य संबंधों के संस्थापक अध्यक्ष, संचालन प्रबंधन एवं निर्णय विज्ञान क्षेत्र के अध्यक्ष, अंतर्राष्ट्रीय संबंधों के अध्यक्ष, प्रबंधन में स्नातकोत्तर कार्यक्रम के अध्यक्ष तथा कई समितियों के सदस्य रह चुके हैं। वे आईआईएम तिरुचिरापल्ली के बोर्ड ऑफ गवर्नर्स, वित्त समिति तथा भवन एवं निर्माण समिति के सदस्य भी रहे हैं। वर्तमान में वे डीन (प्रशासन) तथा सूचना का अधिकार (RTI) प्रकोष्ठ के प्रथम अपीलीय प्राधिकारी हैं। वर्षों के दौरान वे संस्थान की कई तदर्थ समितियों के सदस्य रहे हैं अथवा उनका नेतृत्व कर चुके हैं। वे कुछ समय के लिए संस्थान के निदेशक (प्रभारी) भी रहे हैं।

डॉ. गॉडविन डॉक्टरेट उम्मीदवारों के लिए बाह्य परीक्षक, डॉक्टरेट समितियों के बाह्य सदस्य, अध्ययन बोर्ड के सदस्य तथा विभिन्न संस्थानों और विश्वविद्यालयों के लिए अकादमिक लेखा परीक्षक के रूप में कार्य करते हैं। वे विभिन्न अंतर्राष्ट्रीय पत्रिकाओं के लिए शोधपत्रों के समीक्षक तथा बाह्य समितियों के लिए विषय विशेषज्ञ के रूप में भी सेवाएँ प्रदान करते हैं।
