Dr. Ashish Viswanath Prakash is an Assistant Professor in the area of Information Systems and Analytics at the Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli. He holds a PhD in Information Systems from the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur. Prior to joining IIM Tiruchirappalli, he served as a faculty member at the T. A. Pai Management Institute (AACSB & AMBA accredited), Manipal University, Karnataka.
Dr. Ashish brings over five years of experience in teaching postgraduate management students. He is a recipient of the University Grants Commission’s Junior Research Fellowship (JRF) and Senior Research Fellowship (SRF), awarded during his doctoral studies. He has also qualified the UGC National Eligibility Test (NET) for Assistant Professorship in Management.
His academic credentials include an MBA with a Gold Medal from Manipal University, Karnataka, and a Bachelor’s degree in Electronics and Communication Engineering from the Cochin University of Science and Technology (CUSAT), Kerala.
Research Interests: Information Systems, Human–Computer Interaction, Digital Transformation, Ethics of Technology, Artificial Intelligence.
Courses taught at IIM Tiruchirappalli: Information Systems for Managers, Managing Digital Transformation, Text Analytics, Information Systems Research Foundation, Theoretical Advances in Information Systems, Data Mining / Business Analytics, Machine Learning for Applied Research, and Theory Building (co-taught with Prof. J. B. Singh).
In addition to academic teaching, he has conducted sessions in several short-term Management Development Programmes (MDPs) for working professionals from organizations such as Hyundai, Larsen & Toubro, Indian Oil Corporation, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, TAFE, and UDS. These sessions focused on transforming business with artificial intelligence, digital transformation, data visualization, data analytics, and emerging IT applications in business.
Courses taught previously at other institutions: Emerging Technologies for Business, Technology Strategy, Total Quality Management, Systems Thinking, Systems Dynamics and Business Modelling, and Business Statistics.
