Dr. P. Saravanan is currently a Professor in the area of Finance and Accounting. Earlier, he served as a Professor at IIM Shillong. His areas of interest include corporate finance, security analysis and portfolio management, corporate governance, and project finance. He has published 46 articles in various journals, including ‘A’ category journals ranked as per the Australian Business Deans Council (ABDC) classification. Seven of his case studies on NSE- and BSE-listed companies were published by Ivey Business School and are available in the Harvard Business School Case Repository Collection. He is a regular columnist in leading business newspapers such as The Economic Times, The Hindu BusinessLine, Financial Express, and Mint. He has authored four books in the areas of accounting and financial management, published by McGraw Hill, Oxford, and Pearson Education.

He has evaluated and adjudicated 125 Ph.D. theses in the fields of Management, Humanities and Social Sciences, and Commerce as the Chairman of the panel of examiners for institutions such as IIT Madras, IIM Indore, XLRI Jamshedpur, Birla Institute of Technology Pilani, JNTU Hyderabad, Visvesvaraya Technological University, University of Madras, Osmania University Hyderabad, Madurai Kamaraj University, among others.

He has conducted around 100 corporate training programmes on topics such as finance for medical professionals, corporate governance, project finance, and data analytics. His client list includes UNDP–India Office, LIC, Oil India Corporation, Indian Oil Corporation, HPCL, HDFC Bank, Larsen & Toubro, Mazagon Dock Shipbuilders Limited, and several leading state and central public sector undertakings across the country. His consulting clientele includes the Ministry of Commerce, Ministry of Corporate Affairs, Department of Public Sector Enterprises, Government of India; Department of Food, Civil Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Government of Assam; Department of Police, Government of Meghalaya; and Departments of Commerce and Industries of the Governments of Meghalaya, Assam, Sikkim, Tripura, Mizoram, Manipur, Nagaland, among others. He has also served as an Independent Director on the Board of Directors of Tamil Nadu Small Industries Development Corporation Ltd. He is an Associate Member of the Institute of Financial Accountants (UK) and the Institute of Public Accountants (IPA), Australia.

He has received significant research grants from organizations such as the Reserve Bank of India (through IIBF, Mumbai), National Housing Bank, Delhi, ICSSR, NFCG, and others to carry out action research.

He is also a Visiting Professor at IIM Kozhikode, IIM Indore, IIM Ranchi, IIM Rohtak, XLRI Jamshedpur, and other institutions. His teaching feedback scores range from 3.80 to 4.93 out of 5 across all programmes.
