Dr. Jyotirmoy Dalal is an Associate Professor in the Operations Management and Decision Sciences area at IIM Tiruchirappalli. He holds a Ph.D. in Industrial Engineering from Texas A&M University (USA) and has previously served as a faculty member at Sheffield University Management School (UK), IIM Lucknow, and IIM Udaipur.
Dr Dalal has taught several master’s and doctoral-level courses, as well as executive education modules in Operations Research and Management Science, at higher education institutions in India and abroad. During his tenure in the UK, he earned two teaching-related professional qualifications: Fellow of the Higher Education Academy (FHEA) and Postgraduate Certificate in Teaching for Learning in Higher Education (PGCERT).
His research primarily focuses on the application of Operations Research (OR) to address socially relevant challenges in the public and non-profit sectors. He is particularly interested in large-scale optimization for humanitarian logistics, emergency response network design, and food bank operations. His methodological expertise includes stochastic programming, robust optimization, and exact algorithms (Benders Decomposition). His research papers have appeared in leading peer-reviewed journals such as Transportation Science, Naval Research Logistics, International Journal of Production Economics, IISE Transactions, to mention a few. He is a life member of the Operations Research Society of India (ORSI).
Before his academic career, he worked as a Software Engineer at IBM Global Services, Connectiva Systems, and Erevmax Technologies.
