Dr. Nithyananda is an Assistant Professor in the area of Finance and Legal Systems at the Indian Institute of Management Tiruchirappalli (IIM Trichy), Tamil Nadu, India, where he teaches courses on Business Laws, Legal Aspects of Business / Business Laws, Legal Aspects of Marketing and Strategic Management of Intellectual Property Rights, Legal Aspects of Entrepreneurship and Innovation, and Capital Market Regulations.Currently, he also looks after the administrative responsibility of registering and managing the trademarks of IIM Trichy as the Chairperson of the Trademarks Committee at IIM Trichy.
He is a Visiting Faculty at the IAE-AIX Marseille Graduate School of Management where he has been teaching the course on “Strategic Management of Intellectual Property Rights (SMIPR) for the last 7 years now. He was also a Visiting Faculty at École Supérieure des Sciences Commerciales d’Angers (ESSCA), at their Anger campus where he teaches the students of Masters Programme in International Business.
He was the Principal Investigator for the international research project, funded by the Institute for Money, Technology and Financial Inclusion (IMTFI), University of California at Irvine, Irvine, California, USA., along with Prof. Cyril Fouillet of ESSCA, as the co-investigator for the period 1st June 2013 to 31st May 2016.With backgrounds in both finance and legal systems area, he brings a unique perspective to business problems. He comes with a rich consulting experience of five years where he was working in the area of urban infrastructure finance. During his consulting years, he has provided consulting services to the World Bank and Asian Development Bank, in addition to Bangalore Development Authority, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike, Mysore City Corporation, Brihan Mumbai Mahanagara Palika, Jalgaon City Corporation, among others.
In addition to this, he has also provided consulting services in the area of Intellectual Property Management to companies in the area of pharmaceuticals, media, electronics and telecommunications on aspects like valuation of intellectual property, IPR strategy, collateralization of IPR, etc. He has also provided contract evaluation and contract management advisory services through a legal consulting company based in Bangalore.
He brings in academic experience of around twelve years and industry experience of about two years, in addition to five years of his consulting experience. His areas of research interest include Business Laws & Capital Market Laws, Innovation in Teaching and Strategic Management of Intellectual Property Rights where he specifically focuses on the interactions of finance and intellectual property rights, including protecting financial innovations and leveraging their value.

He sits on the board of two private companies and he is also providing consulting services to many startups in various business domains on matters like formation & formalization of organization structure, intellectual property protection, contract management, recruitment, organizational policy, etc.
He has completed his PhD from National Law School of India University, Bangalore in the area of Intellectual Property and Finance.

Nithyananda has been providing consulting services to various corporate houses in India and abroad.
·      Mentoring technology startups and advising them on their legal strategy, intellectual property strategy, HR policy, contracting, and dispute resolution, from 2016 to date

Research Projects
International Research Project:
Nithyananda, KV and Cyril Fouillet (Professor in Economics, ESSCA, Angers, France. He was a Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Institute of Development Studies at the Oxford University, UK), (2013-14), “Spatial Complementarity of Mobile Financial Services, Business Correspondents, and Banking Infrastructures: Accounting for Mobile Financial Services Ecosystems in India”, Project funding agency: Institute of Money, Technology and Financial Inclusion (IMTFI), Social Sciences Department, University of California, Irvine. This was a one-year project, which we bagged out of 148 worldwide applications, out of which only 22 projects were selected. This was one of the 7 projects sanctioned in India by the IMTFI for the year 2013-14. We received a project funding of around $19,000 to complete this project. This project studied the socio-economic impact of the financial inclusion system introduced by the Reserve Bank of India in the state of Tamil Nadu. It also aims to develop the financial inclusion indicators for the entire country, which would then be represented on maps. National Research Project:
I was invited to be a part of a national research project bagged by the Entrepreneurship Development Institute of India (EDII), Ahmedabad, from the Department of Science and Technology (DST), Government of India. DST was planning to introduce a policy framework on technology transfer in India, specifically for the technologies generated by academic institutions and research institutions. The team at EDII invited me and integrated me into the project, specifically keeping in mind my expertise in the area of IPR and its management. The project was successfully completed in March 2017, with me and EDII submitting a detailed report on the framework that could be adopted to commercialize the technology in India and also for facilitating technology transfer in India, especially for the technology innovations generated at educational institutions.
