Mukundhan joined the Strategy area of IIM Tiruchirappalli in April 2015. He holds a bachelor’s degree in Electrical and Electronics Engineering from the Birla Institute of Technology and Science (Pilani Campus) and a PhD in Strategic Management from the Indian Institute of Management Kozhikode.

Prior to his PhD, he worked with Samsung Electronics and Microsoft Corporation on competitive intelligence, patent analytics and research planning assignments in technology areas related to mobile telephony, human-machine interfaces, automotive electronics, systems biology and electronic payment gateways.

His research focuses on the Emerging Market Multinationals and Global Value Chains. His work has been published in reputed journals and has been presented at international conferences conducted by the Academy of Management (AOM), Academy of International Business (AIB) and the Strategic Management Society (SMS).

At IIM Tiruchirappalli, he teaches courses on Competitive Strategy, International Strategy and Strategic Innovation in the MBA and Executive MBA programmes. His MDP offerings include modules on the broader themes of Business Models and Strategic Renewal through Innovation.

Mukundhan's offerings in the MBA and Executive MBA programmes include Competition and Strategy, Competing in Global Markets and Innovation & Strategic Renewal.
Mukundhan has taught and facilitated training sessions on the topics of Competitive Strategy, Corporate Strategy and Business Models to managers from the Engineering Services, Glass and Oil & Gas industries. He has conducted workshops on growth strategies for entrepreneurs representing agri-business, food processing and commodity trading industries in the vernacular language. He has also designed and taught training programmes for the probationers of the Indian Postal Service and the Directors of the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Government of India.
